Industrial Plant Busbar Trunking

Scope

The plant was expanding its press shop and needed a distribution backbone that could be re-tapped whenever a line was reconfigured. A radial cable installation would have meant re-pulling every time, so the project moved to sandwich busbar trunking.

What we delivered

• 1250 A copper sandwich busbar trunking with IP66 enclosure for the wash-down areas.
• Plug-in tap-off boxes at 2 m intervals, pre-fitted with MCB or MCCB protection.
• Expansion joints and spring hangers sized for the building’s thermal movement.
• Type test reports and routine test certificates for the client’s electrical inspector.

Result

The line reconfiguration that followed six months later took two days instead of the two weeks budgeted for a cable-based system.
